Chevron approved to drill a new well in the US Gulf of Mexico
US regulators have approved Chevron to drill a new exploration well near its Deepwater Discovery in the Gulf of Mexico.
The current chief executive of the American giant is Mike Wirth, and the US record shows that the company submitted a plan for a exploration well named Crown, located in blocks 717, 760 and 761 in Green Canyon.
The drilling work was originally planned to begin as early as June and lasted for 200 days, but drilling permits have not been seen in the documents submitted to the US Security and Environment Executive (BSEE).
Successful discovery at Crown may increase reserves for a central level found in Chevron for a long time at Anchor. Anchor was acquired in 2014 and Chevron subsequently drilled an evaluation well in 2015.
